And restore the database on your SharePoint 2019 server environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SharePoint\n2019 supports content database migration from the SharePoint 2016 environment\ninto the SharePoint 2019 environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step &#8211; 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First take a content database backup from SP 2016. Please follow the\nsteps below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0 <strong>1.(a) <\/strong>Go to the central admin and click on \u201cManage Content Databases\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/1-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5847\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.(b) <\/strong>Select the web application for which you need the content database backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5848\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.(c)<\/strong> Copy the Content Database name. Then select the Content Database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/3-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5849\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.(d)<\/strong>\u00a0 Open the SQL server management studio. Expand database. Select the database. Right click on it. Select the Tasks > Back Up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/4-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5850\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.(e)<\/strong>\u00a0 It will navigate to the following window. Select the below location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/5-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5851\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.(f)<\/strong> Remove this path and add the path where you want to keep your back up (.bak) file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/6-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5852\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>1.(g) Now click on OK button and wait till the backup completes successfully. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/7-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5853\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/8-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5854\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>1.(h) Once complete you can see your .bak file in the location which you have set above. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/9-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5855\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step-2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Create a new web application on SP 2019 environment.\u00a0 To create a new web application navigate to central admin and clicks on \u201cManage web application\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/10-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5856\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>And now click on \u201cNew\u201d ribbon button <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/11-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5857\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And now a modal dialog will appear, Please provide all necessary information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/12-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5858\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Now please wait till the processing to be finished. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/13-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5859\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, you can see your new web application has been successfully created on your end. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/14-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5860\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After creating the web application\nfollow these steps as mentioned below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.(a) <\/strong>Select Application Management then Select the Manage Content Database under the Databases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/15-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5861\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.(b) <\/strong>Select the web application you have created. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/16-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5862\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.(c) <\/strong>Then\nclick on the Content Database name (copy the name of the database to use it\nlater on), it will take you to the Manage Content Database Settings page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the Database Status select the \u201cOffline\u201d option from the dropdown list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/17-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5863\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the Check Mark in &#8220;Remove content database&#8221; check box. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/18-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5864\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A prompt will come, select OK on\nthat. Now the content database is removed from the web application. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.(d) <\/strong>To detach the Content Database from SQL Server Management Studio please follow the steps: Connect the SQL Server Management Studio => Expand the Database. => Select the content database name that you have copied previously=>Right click on SQL => Tasks= > Detach <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/19-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5865\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the check box in the Drop and click Ok. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/20-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5866\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step \u2013 3 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Restore the 2016 database. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.(a) <\/strong>Right Click on Database and select Restore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/21-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5867\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.(b) <\/strong>Now select \u201cDevice\u201d radio button and browse the path where you have kept SP2016 backup file. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/22-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5868\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.(c) <\/strong>Select the file from the folder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/23-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5869\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.(d) <\/strong>Now you can a similar window as shown below. Please verify the things and then click on \u201cOk\u201d button. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/24-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5870\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Please wait for it successfully restore the database on your SP2019 SQL server environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/25-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5871\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step \u2013 4 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now\nthe time has come to associate and upgrade this content database to SP2019\nnewly created web application. Please use this below command to mount the\ndatabase to new web application. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.(a) <\/strong>Open\nthe SharePoint 2019 Management Shell as \u201cRun as Administrator\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mount-SPContentDatabase \u201c&lt;DatabaseName>\u201d -DatabaseServer \u201c&lt;Db server name>\u201d \u2013WebApplication \u201c&lt;webapplication url>\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/26-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5872\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.(b) <\/strong>Once the command executes successfully, then you will get message as shown below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.softreetechnology.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/27-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5873\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This\ncommand will upgrade the database and attach this content database to the web\napplication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If required, upgrade the service\napplications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.(c) <\/strong>If you get any errors while executing the above command then please refer the log file to get more details.
